Did you make your
course active so that students can see it when they log in?
All courses at UW-RF will have a Learn@UW River Falls course automatically
built. These courses have dates set to the beginning of the semester and ONE week after semester end. They all are inactive, meaning if you are going to utilize D2L you will need to activate your course in order for students to have access to it.
If you would like your students to have access prior
to the semester starting you can change the start date that is listed. You may also change the name of the course to include sections numbers.
To make your course ACTIVE, please log into Learn@UW River Falls and, then
click the pencil icon under "action" next to your course.

Once you click the pencil in the above frame, you will see this image. Here you can change the name of your course, the start and end date, and check the box for IsACTIVE. We also suggest checking the box near the end to show course address book. This will display the address book for just your course instead of the entire D2L address book.
Once you are done making changes, please "SAVE" your work.

Does your Classlist
show missing email addresses?
If there are missing addresses, this means that your student has not
upgraded their falcon account. This usually occurs with new or transfer
students. If you have any missing emails in your classlist, please encourage
your students to upgrade their falcon accounts, by logging into FAA
and they will need to manually change their passwords.
Does your Classlist
not show all the instructors or students?
Make sure your search field is blank. When you search for a specific
user the search field remembers that search and keeps the name in the
search field, and will only display the name you are searching on.
The course address book:
As of ver 8.1.x (summer 2007) there is a new "checkbox"
in the "edit course" area. The checkbox controls the addresses
displayed in the address book. By default the "show course address
book" checkbox is NOT checked, causing the entire
organization address book to be displayed when searching for an address.
This can be cumbersome and we suggest that you check the "show
course address book" checkbox. This will filter the addresses so
that you see only the addresses for that particular course. See the
image below:
Best Practices Content:
Can you see "content" on the nav bar once you log
in? There is additional course help here for you, that only instructors
have access to. You will find information on how to quickly set up your
course, add content and manage grades. If you don't see "content"
on the nav bar, please email us below and let us know.
