What is Forensics?

The Forensics program is a student activity open to all university students. The team competes in a strong regional circuit, and students regularly qualify for national-level tournaments.

Competition is available in eleven individual events:

  • Prose
  • Poetry
  • Dramatic Interpretation
  • Program Oral Interpretation
  • Dramatic Duo
  • After-Dinner
  • Persuasive
  • Informative Speaking
  • Communication Analysis
  • Extemporaneous
  • Impromptu
  • Parliamentary Debate

Events

The team meets weekly to rehearse their speeches and to critique one another. Among the tournaments that are usually included in the season are the six Tuesday afternoon and evening tournaments of the Twin Cities Forensics League, the University of Wisconsin-Stout, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and the Wisconsin State Tournament.
