Naomi Hashimoto, PhD, CCC-SLP Education BS Northwestern University, 1984 Teaching COMD 160 Introduction to Communication Disorders Research Interests Dr. Hashimoto’s research interest involves the examination of language deficits in individuals with aphasia. The deficits found in these individuals are interpreted within the context of a cognitive neuropsychology approach. Methodologies such as on-line measures and the more traditional assessment batteries are used to examine how various aspects of the lexical-semantic (word meaning) system operates in the brains of neurologically intact individuals and individuals with aphasia. Another research interest is the use of theory-based treatment approaches in improving language deficits in individuals with aphasia. This work involves the case study approach, where a detailed, in-depth analysis of an individual’s linguistic performance is carried out. Activities Director, Aphasia Research Laboratory
