Falls students 809 must complete the following courses listed on the linked page (click here) in addition

How many extra semesters will it take to earn both the ECSE
and the Birth through Age 8 certification endorsements?
If you join the dual program early enough to allow you to
combine student teaching assignments, very little time will
be added to the length of your program. You should probably
allow five years to earn a degree in dual certification.

Will I have to complete separate student teaching requirements
for ECSE and Birth through Age 8?
You may combine your student teaching experiences by working
in inclusive classrooms, providing you have completed all the
necessary prerequisites for both programs prior to placement.

River Falls students are charged $100.00 enrollment fee and
campus fees for UW-Eau Claire.

back to questions
What are the field experience demands?
To a certain extent it depends on the time that a student
is admitted to the Department of Special Education Early Childhood
Special Education Program. Currently students admitted at the
end of their sophomore year and take SPED 200, SPED 205, and
SPED 220 prior to admission are completing their studies in
four years and nine additional weeks of student teaching if
they take a small number of courses during one or two summer
sessions. This is changing and students will be taking an additional
eighteen weeks of student teaching rather than nine. The program
will take a minimum of four and a half years to complete all
requirements for ECSE and Pre-K-3.
back to questions
Will I have to complete additional student teaching experiences
beyond those currently required in my program?
Whenever possible placements will be arranged to address requirements
of general as well as special education in the same classrooms
for the 3-6/K and the 6-9/Grades 1, 2, or 3 during enrollment
in student teaching. Birth through 3 experiences require an additional
nine week experience.
