Elementary Education

The Elementary Education Program is accredited by The National Council for the Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE),[external link] and is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. [External link] The program meets all the standards established by national professional organizations with a dynamic professional education faculty who will help you develop a strong knowledge base in your discipline and in the pedagogical skills to teach it. We have excellent resources to assist you in becoming a effective teacher. Our most important resource is the faculty who represent a diversity in ideas, philosophies, cultures and academic backgrounds, and our outstanding teachers, learners and scholars. We also provide you with instructional technology resources thought the Educational Technology Center located in our new Teacher Education Building.

Levels of Certification:

Early Childhood to Middle Childhood:
Undergraduate Elementary Education major
with a minor in Early Childhood.

Graduate Initial Certification Program in Elementary Education
and completing all the course work as indicated in the undergraduate Early Childhood minor.

Middle Childhood to Early Adolescence:
Undergraduate Elementary Education major with an approved minor (see list below)

Graduate Initial Certification Program in Elementary Education and completion of an undergraduate degree major or minor in one of the following areas:
