Two-Year Certificate in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

This program is intended for students who wish to enter agriculturally-related occupations or production agriculture. Although the program is designed as a two-year course of study, all of the courses in the program are selected from the four-year curriculum. Students who later decide to work toward a Bachelor of Science degree will receive full credit for courses completed successfully under this program.

Some advantages to the CAFES Two-Year Certification Program compared to a two–year technical college degree or farm short courses:

  • Courses taken are the same as undergraduate degree students.
  • CAFES offers eleven different options in the Two-Year Certificate Program
  • If you wish to continue toward a baccalaureate degree, all the courses will count toward your major.
  • Technical college—15 credits of general education may transfer; after which credits transferred will depend on the university, college, or academic department.
  • Short course grades of A or B may transfer for one-third credit value i.e., a 3-credit short course, would equal 1 credit.
  • Students who enroll in the two-year program can participate in student organizations and internships.

The Two- Year Certificate is awarded by the Dean’s Office upon successful completion of the two-year program (60 credits).
