Punt, Pass & Kick Competition is a Success

It was a great turnout today for the Kansas City Chiefs Summer Training Camp Punt, Pass & Kick competition.

With 121 registered participants and 15 girls competing in the new female category ages 8-10 and 11-13, it was a fun-filled and exciting competition.

The event began at noon with children lined up on the practice filed according to their age group, and were later scored on their punting, passing and kicking abilities. Once the scores were calculated, the top three winners of each age group were announced, given awards and had their picture taken with the Chiefs Executive Vice President/Operating Officer Denny Thum. Following the announcement of the winners in each age group, was a photo session that also included University of Wisconsin-River Falls Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance Mary Halada. Each participant received a red ribbon and had group photographs taken.

The event was a success due to the help from several volunteers who took scores, calculations and measurements for each participant. These volunteers include University of Wisconsin-River Falls students Shelby Rubbelke and Jen Schofield, Theta Chi members Jason Cowan and Bobby Moody, River Falls, Wis., residents Whitney Toftness, Kevin Rickelman, Brandon Rickelman, Ryan Nafe and Katrina Conde. Other volunteers include, Josh Dummer of South St. Paul, Minn., Tommy Hackler and Devin McNamara of Hammond, Wis., Denise and Ellis Brewster of Liberty, Mo., and Joe Hannah of Prairie Village, Kan. The UWRF Falcon football players were present as well, including Gregg Neumann of Lakeville, Minn., Colin Goulette of Bayport, Minn., Justin Parsons of River Falls, Wis., John Bratcher of Atlanta, Ga., James Hansen of Roberts, Wis., and Joe Simonson of Ogilvie, Minn. Falcon Coaches Andy Kotelnicki and Alan Hensell also helped.

Other special appearances included the Kansas City Chiefs mascot KC Wolf and UWRF mascot Freddy the Falcon dancing and taking pictures with the participants and their families.

The winners will be recognized again at Family Fun Night on Aug. 8.
