UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-RIVER
FALLS
SCIENCE DAY
In 1978,
the Department of Chemistry initiated Science Day. Each year, usually
the first Friday in October, science departments at UW-River Falls
jointly host Science Day for Wisconsin high schools within a hundred
mile radius, and select Minnesota high schools. The participating
science departments prepare various presentations and demonstrations
that are designed to stimulate an interest in science among high school
students in search of career options and to acquaint them with science
faculty, facilities, and state-of-the-art equipment at UW-River Falls.
Science Day has become a very popular event among area high school
students and teachers with an average of 650 students attending.
