Background:

I joined the faculty at UWRF in 1982 and have been predominantly involved in teaching organic chemistry. My background includes education in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology, so I am particularly interested in research projects directed toward the design and organic synthesis of new compounds which have the potential to act as useful drugs.

Design and synthesis of organic compounds with drug actions similar to capsaicin, the active substance in hot red peppers
Design and synthesis of TRPV1 antagonists; potential new analgesic drugs
Investigation of the radical-cation induced Diels Alder reaction
Design of new NMR experiments for the undergraduate laboratory
