Communication Skills
Workshop Evaluation
As
a Peer Advisor at the UW - River Falls Career Services office,
I have enhanced my public speaking skills by presenting workshops
to students about career related topics. Here is an evaluation
that was completed by a student after attending a workshop that
I presented on interviewing techniques.
Client
Intake Form
In addition to giving presentations to large groups, I also worked
one-on-one with clients as a Peer Advisor. I met with students,
alumni and community members to help them with resumes, cover letters,
portfolios, mock interviews and job searching.
Tip
'N' Treat
Tip 'N' Treat is an event
put on by the Personal and Professional Development Center to inform
the students on campus about the services that we provide. I cooperated
with two other Peer Advisors to plan and prepare for the event. We
used our creativity to come up with tips to attach to the candy that
we handed out to students. I also used my written communication skills
to make flyers to post around campus.
Bookmarks
One of my projects as a Peer Advisor was to research the different
majors offered at UW-River Falls. After completing the research
I created bookmarks to inform students of the occupational opportunities
available with certain majors, skills and abilities that are
useful for that major, and ways to enhance skills for that major.
These bookmarks are available to the students on campus as well
as prospective UW-River Falls students.
ATA
Agenda
I served as Secretary
in 2002 for the Alpha Mu chapter of Alpha Tau Alpha at the University
of Wisconsin - River Falls . As secretary I recorded the minutes
of each meeting and then typed them and e-mailed them to each
of the members. I also was responsible for creating the agenda
for each meeting. Below is one of the agendas that I created.
