I have acquired numerous research skills and techniques through my experience as a McNair Scholar, and classes such as Social Statistics, Research Methods-utilized Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) to evaluate my dependent and independent variables; Social and Cultural Theories-utilized Microsoft Office programs to compose and design research outcome; and many other sociology classes such as Power and Inequality, International Perspective on Children, and International Relations, etc.

Relevant Coursework

  • Research Methods (Sociology 300)
    Researched suject and selected the dependent and independent variables that could be analyzed using SPSS. I conducted research to see "The Effect of Race and Sex on the Political Affiliation of Individuals."
  • Social and Cultural Theories (Sociology 400)
    Conducted in-depth research on a sociological issue and apply three social threories explaining the issue. I wrote a 41 page paper on the social issues of the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
  • Power and Inequality (Sociology 445)
    Conducted a group survey research project on the social class structure within campus organizations and presented findings to class; highlighted the issues of power and inequality in the respective organizations.
