Developing a Professional Portfolio

See our Career Workshops schedule for a portfolio workshop.

What is a portfolio?

A portfolio is a collection of work-related items about you, which is organized either in a notebook or in electronic format. By collecting information about yourself throughout college, you can help to recognize the skills and abilities you possess in relationship to a career. A portfolio is an excellent tool to market your qualifications to an employer during an interview for an internship or full time employment. Additionally, it is a tool used by professionals to assist in obtaining tenure, promotions, and to demonstrate on-the-job ideas that may require documents for illustrating, such as projects and funding requests.
