Rules and Requirements

Competitor Eligibility

Each team must consist of undergraduates who are currently enrolled within the University of Wisconsin System. Each student must be an active participant in the creation and presentation of the business plan.

Teams are encouraged to seek input from faculty and staff, as well as members of the business community.
Each school within the UW System may have more than one entry.
Teams may receive limited funding before competing in this business plan competition; however, all funding amounts and sources must be disclosed on the entry form. Funding information will be kept confidential. If a team receives funding for its idea during the course of the competition, it must be disclosed as soon as the investment is confirmed.
The Rules Committee reserves the right to disqualify any entry that in its judgment violates the letter and the spirit of the Competition Guidelines.

Entry Must Reflect Original Work

Entries must be the original work of entrants and may be entered by a single student or a multi-student team.
The size of the team is not restricted and neither is the number of entries submitted by a team or school. A typical team will consist of 3-5 members with varying skills and interests.

Submissions Should Be Entrepreneurial

This is an entrepreneurship competition and has a goal of encouraging students to explore the creation of new businesses, the following types of entries are not eligible to participate in the competition:
     - Leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, or restructurings
     - Mergers, acquisitions or roll-ups
     - Licensing arrangements
     - Joint ventures or strategic alliances

Each Submission Must Include:

Registration Form Due April 04, 2008
Two-page Executive Summary Due April 04, 2008
Final Business Plan – Due April 11, 2008
Elevator Speech– Due April 18, 2008 (1st night of conference, attendance required)
     - Each team will give a three minute elevator speech selling their business plan(s)
Final Business Plan Presentation and Award Ceremony – Due April 19, 2008
A $15* conference registration fee that should be sent with each participant's registration form to the Register web page of the Young Entrepreneurs' conference

*The registration fee will help to offset the cost of two meals (dinner Friday night & lunch on Saturday), refreshments & conference materials. A limited number of Registration scholarships are available.
