Dr. Benson holds a B.S. degree in management and Psychology (1990) and a D.B.A. in Organizational Behavior (1995) from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She teaches Organizational Theory and Behavior (MNGT 700). Dr. Benson joined CBE in 2006 and brings 13 years of integrated teaching, scholarship and service to the college.

Dr. Benson has been a strategic management consultant with the State of Illinois working with the Department of Transportation, Emergency Management, and Central Management Services.  In addition, she served as the lead facilitator for the Illinois Learning Lab for Strategic Management.

 

 

Brian Huffman, Ph.D.

Dr. Huffman teaches various courses in the MBA program, including Management and Organizational Behavior, Special Topics in Management, and Operations Management.

He graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (1976).  He received an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota (1985) in Finance; an M.S. degree from Boston University (1987) in Computer Information Systems and a Ph.D. in Business from the University of Minnesota (1993).

Dr. Huffman began his professional life as an engineer in the power industry.  He was involved in the design and construction of power plants as a utility employee and later in the design of equipment used in those plants as a design engineer for a major power industry manufacturer.

 

 

Claire M. Kilian

Dr. Kilian has more than 20 years of teaching and consulting experience in the area of management and human resources.  The classes she teaches in the MBA program include Organizational Theory and Behavior, Leadership and Ethics, and Human Resource Management.  She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a B.A. degree in Psychology & Anthropology and of The Ohio State University where she received a Ph.D. in Labor & Human Resources/Organizational Behavior (1993).

Dr. Kilian has worked with many organizations, including Mayo Clinic, Pratt & Whitney, Milwaukee Children’s Hospital, Vistakon (division of Johnson & Johnson), Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois, Ministry Health Care, Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, USG Interiors, Johnsonville Sausage, and Tenneco Packaging.

She has also conducted many supervisory management workshops for the University of Wisconsin system.  She developed the Coach Guide and Workshop for The Team Learning Lab, a video-supported organizational learning program designed as a practice field for team and featuring Peter Senge, author of the best-selling book The Fifth Discipline. Dr. Kilian also developed a core workshop which is offered regularly by Boston College and the Alliance of Work/Life Professionals (AWLP) called Organizational Influence and Work/Life.

 

 

Darryl W. Miller, Ph.D.

Teaching consumer behavior, marketing research and marketing management number among Dr. Miller’s professional interests.  He earned a B.A. degree in European History from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  He received his M.S. degree in Secondary Education from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and his M.B.A. in Business Administration from Indiana University in South Bend. Dr. Miller was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Marketing (1994) from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

For the MBAt program, Dr. Miller teaches Strategy and Marketing, Special Topics, and Marketing Research Methods.

 

 

Marina Onken, Ph.D.

Dr. Onken holds a B.S. degree in News Editorial Journalism from South Dakota State University (1985), an M.B.A. from North Dakota State University (1990) and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska (1997).

Dr. Onken teaches Leadership and Ethics, Special Topics in Management, such as International Management, for the Master’s program.

Dr. Onken worked at Target corporate headquarters in Minneapolis and was also a magazine editor for an electric cooperative in South Dakota.

 

 

Glenn T. Potts, Ph.D.

In addition to being the dean of the College of Business and Economics, Dr. Potts also teaches Statistics (MNGT 709).

Dr. Potts holds a B.A. degree in Economics from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois; an M.S. degree in Economics and a Ph.D. degree in Monetary Economics and Statistics (1976) from Iowa State University, Ames.

Dr. Potts is the owner and CEO of GEM International, a trading company.

 

 

Reza Rahgozar, Ph.D.

Dr. Rahgozar’s academic background includes an M.B.A. degree from the University of La Verne, La Verne, California and a Ph.D. in Economics (1985) from Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, California.

In the MBA program, Dr. Rahgozar teaches Financial Management, and Special Topics in Management.

Dr. Rahgozar has worked in the international consulting areas of privatization, valuation of public and private firms, application of financial derivatives managing risk, and cultural issues in international business.

 

 

Claire M. Zajac, J.D.

Ms. Zajac teaches Business Law. She earned a B.A. degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and a J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut (1984).

Currently, she is employed as a Senior Health Plan Legal Counsel with HealthPartners, Inc., a large non-profit health care company in the Twin Cities. She advises on a wide variety of corporate, non-profit, insurance and regulatory matters.  Ms. Zajac also serves as a Judge Advocate in the US Army Reserves at Ft. Snelling, MN, delivering legal advice to military commanders and federal governmental leaders.
