Director
Dr. Glenn Potts is the Director of the College of Business and Economics Center
for Economic Research. He is a professor of economics at the University of
Wisconsin - River Falls. His research interests include: the Federal Reserve
and the Impact of Policy actions, the effectiveness of academic intervention
efforts on student academic performance, and a variety of regional economic
development topics. Since 1992, Dr. Potts has provided leadership for the UWRF
efforts to support the economic development efforts within the St. Croix Valley.
- As
Director of the Center for Economic Research Dr. Potts is not only personally
involved in research efforts, but he also directs research assistant
resources to assist faculty with their research efforts.
- The Center provides a web based
outlet for faculty, staff, and student research efforts. Dr. Potts serves
as the editor and directs the blind review of submitted manuscripts.

Mission
The mission of the Center for Economics Research is to assist and encourage
research that supports economic development of the St Croix Valley and the
mission of the College of Business and Economics and the University of Wisconsin
- River Falls.
To meet this mission the Center for Economics Research will:
- Assist faculty in the pursuit of grants to fund appropriate research.
- Identify
research projects that will meet economic development needs of the St.
Croix Valley.
- Support and encourage collaboration and exchange of ideas among
faculty and staff.
- Support a student research initiative by pairing able
students with faculty for research efforts.
- Support and encourage presentation
of research by students and faculty.
- Develop and support student research
outlets for presentation of research.
- Develop and support faculty research
outlets for presentation of research.
- Support a CER data series
- Create a web based newsletter for business and
economic news.
- Support a working paper series for CBE faculty and staff
and other invited researchers.
- Maintain a web site for the dissemination
of research and reports.
- Organize Faculty Friday research seminars.
- Develop client projects consistent
with the mission of CBE.
- Sponsor regional economic impact studies.
