Society for Human Resources Management
Mission Statement:
A chapter of the national organization, SHRM, was started here on campus in 2002. The purposes of this chapter are:
a) To acquaint students, considering a future in business, with the field of human resource management and/or labor relations.
b) To keep students up-to-date on new developments in the field of human resource management.
c) To provide learning opportunities through interaction with human resource practitioners.
d) To promote the development of truly professional human resource managers for the future.
e) To encourage adherence to the Code of Ethics of the Society for Human Resource Management.
Upcoming Events:
There will be a one hour meeting of the student SHRM chapter on 11/23 (Monday) in WEB 123 at 3:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting will be to elect officers and set start up meetings for next semester.
Please come ready to consider and elect the following positions:
President
VP (to take over as President in 2011)
Secretary
Treasurer
Dean's Council representative
There may be chairmanships to be appointed as we get started and we can discuss those as time permits.
Dues are $10 per academic year.

Our activities include professional presentations, networking, attending presentations given by Twin Cities chapters of SHRM and the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and offer opportunities to prepare for HR certification and participate in HR games (a college-level Jeopardy-like contest).
