1. Enter your assigned username and password, then click the purple GO arrow. (Note that this is just a tutorial, so you can't enter anything in the graphic below. To go to the actual web editor, click the link above.)

2. If this is the first time you have used the editor, you will see the following screen, which lets you enter information for the first section of your poster. Fill in a title for your poster along with the authors' names. Note that you can change the style, color and size via pop-up menus. You can also chose a separator line that will appear under the heading (the heading is "Case It Poster" by default).
Click here for instructions for adding a custom background to your web page. If you do not want to change the background at this time, continue with the screen shots below.
After making any change in your poster, always click the the purple GO arrow to send your information to the server at UW-River Falls, where the poster is being stored.
After clicking the Go arrow, you can click the Preview button to see what your poster looks like. Only persons that know your username and password will be able to see the poster by clicking the Preview button; this enables all members of your group to work on the poster without having to publish it.
DO NOT CLICK THE PUBLISH BUTTON until your instructor tells you to do so, otherwise anyone will be able to see your poster by accessing it from the Case It Launch Pad (a WWW link appears next to your poster name on the Launch Pad once a poster has been published).

3. After adding information to the first section as described above and clicking the Go arrow, you will see the following screen:

For the heading of this screen, type in "Molecular Biology of the Disease" (unless your instructor directs you otherwise). In the Contents field above you will describe the underlying causes of the disease. You can gather information from a variety of sources, including Internet sources. To assist you in doing this, another application called Case It Investigator is available. Case It Investigator works in conjunction with a web browser to help you find sources of information on the web concerning the disease condition you are studying. After entering text in the Contents field above, make sure to click the Go arrow to send this information to the server.
Click the purple Help button for instructions on formatting text and adding links to your text. Note that to add a link, you simply write or paste the complete Internet address into the text.
If you wish to add images to this section (or any other section, for that matter), click the Images Upload button at the bottom of the screen, then click Go and you will see the following:

Click the Browse button and find the image on your hard drive that you wish to upload. After you find it, click the Go arrow to upload the image to the server at UW-River Falls that is storing your web page.
Remember, this image must be in a format that a web browser can display, such as .gif or .jpg files. Also, if you borrow an image off of another web page (by holding the cursor over it and holding down the right mouse button), be sure to give credit where credit is due.
Note that images always appear at the buttom of the section you are currently working in. Click here for instructions on how to add text both above and below an image. Otherwise, continue with the instructions below.
4. After adding information to the Molecular Biology of the Disease section, click the Go arrow and you will see the following screen:

To edit one of the two sections added so far, click the Edit button, then click Go. Otherwise, insert a third section by clicking the Insert After button in the second row, so that the new section will be inserted after the section entitled "Molecular Biology of the Disease". Click Go, and the following will appear:

Entitle this section "Symptoms and Treatment", unless directed otherwise by your instructor. Add text, links and images as described previously. When finished, click Go and the following will appear:

Use the procedures you have learned above to add the following sections to your poster (unless instructed otherwise):
"Laboratory procedure and Gel/Blot Interpretation"
"Case A"
"Case Scenario"
"Statement to the Family"
Note that gel/blot photos generated using the Case It simulation should appear in the Case A section, directly above the Statement to the Family.
"Case B"
"Case Scenario"
"Statement to the Family"
"Case Scenario"
"Statement to the Family"
Click here for a sample instructional poster showing all of the sections added using the above procedures.
