CURRICULUM PROJECT GUIDELINES
Objectives
The main objective of this project is for each participant to develop a biotechnology learning activity to use in one or more of his/her classes. Ideally, the finished product will be complete and ready to use in class.
Format
The length of time spent on the activity in the classroom should be 2-5 days. Activities should include something hands-on, as well as a written component on the part of the student. The following components should be a part of each project, but the exact format can be determined by the individual school and district guidelines.

| 2. Activity description | an overview of the activity; brief summary of the lesson from the teacher's perspective |
| 3. Class(es) into which project will fit | e.g. 10th grade Biology |
| 4. Part of class into which project fits | indicate related concepts; also indicate what will be removed to make room |
| 5. Length of activity | # of days or class hours; # of lessons |
| 6. Outline of activity | including objectives, competencies/outcomes, concepts presented |
| 7. Background | approximately 1-3 pages summarizing the main concepts necessary for understanding the activity |
| 8. Exercises to be included | motivational activities, learning activities, instructional materials |
| 9. Special needs adjustment | Describe any modifications necessary to accommodate students with special needs |
| 10. Study questions or other study guide | |
| 11. References | Complete citations of published materials, videos, etc. identified for teacher and/or class use. |
| 12. Evaluation method | lab reports, quizzes, exams, other written assessment, etc. (provide answers for quiz or test questions) |
| 13. Alignment with standards | Which national and/or state standards are addressed? |
