MAY 10, 1998: AFTON STATE PARK, MINNESOTA
10:35 - Male perched on one of two bluebird nest boxes (not his)
10:37 - Male flew away
10:38 - While I checked the nest box (5 eggs present), male and female were fluttering around a nearby tree - they obviously objected to my presence
10:45 - Female perched on her nest box, male singing (low-key, not his usual song)
10:47 - Female went inside her nest box
10:50 - Male perched on nearby tree. Does not perch on periphery, but on the inside nearer the trunk between 9 and 11 feet off the ground
10:58 - Male gave three little chirps (not his beautiful song), then flew away
11:13 - Male back in same tree. Gave his gurgling vocalization again (which is how I located him)
11:14 - Female out of nest - flew away. Male remained in tree
11:17 - 2 Cedar Waxwings fluttering and flying on distant branch of same tree - male bluebird undisturbed
11:19 - Male flew away
11:24 - Male back in tree - same spot
11:25 - Male flew away
11:30 - Male back in same tree - same height off ground, but not in same spot
11:31 - Male flew to nest box and perched on metal grate on fromt of box. Female flew after him and perched on top of box
11:32 - Female fluttered to the ground near nest box and immediately flew back to top - no noticable food was obtained
11:35 - Female flew away - male flew immediately after her
11:40 - Female went in nest box
11:55 - Female flew out and up to electric wire
11:56 - Female flew away
