Advertising Design (Art 225 & Art 303)

UW-River Falls is closely connected to the Twin Cites and offers our students access to one of the largest advertising markets in the nation. The Advertising Design class continues to be popular with students in Art and Marketing Communications.

Students learn to use and design in a number of different programs. Adobe PageMaker, Macromedia Freehand, Photoshop and Dreamweaver are examples of the progams students explore. Students learn how to transfer information to web pages work with digital cameras and flatbed scanners in developing their designs.

Students learn about the relationship of desktop publishing and the commercial printing processes available in the marketplace.

"There are a lot of opportunities to learn different programs", Sarah Ahmad, one of the students from the Ad Design 303 says. She has taken the introduction course and repeated the advanced studio three times. "This class allows you to create your work by hand through the design programs", she says. Seannie Runk adds,"while designing campus mailers in Photoshop or PageMaker gives you good skills for your career."
