Artist Statement

When I was younger, I was told that the only successful artists worked commercially. Whether this information is correct or incorrect, it significantly influenced my decision to enter the field of graphic design.

Graphic design is a medium that plays to my strengths: it requires a high level of creativity; it is always changing and evolving; and the compositions I create have to satisfy a diverse clientele.

Every commission, every work order, every client is different. It is my job to satisfy each one to the best of my artistic ability by creating an entirely new work of art, a work of art that has never existed before this moment in time.

My clients tell me what they want, and from these often-vague descriptions, I must create a composition that is clean, attractive, and effortlessly guides the viewers' eye to the focal pint. Programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, FreeHand, and QuarkXpress give me the tools necessary to provide graphic solutions to the problems given to me by clients.

Whether the solution is composed of text or images, my work provides the viewer with the essential information necessary to pique their interests, guide them in a decision, or simply to be informative while remaining visually appealing.
