Our Development Goals

South Hall

“The purpose of the UWRF general education program is to facilitate the acquisition and integration of knowledge, abilities, and ethics in order to form a foundation of lifelong learning.”

- Mission statement for the UWRF general education program

“Living the Promise” relies on a solid foundation, and our development goals for the infrastructure of university operations are designed to provide that foundation. As we embark on our transformation, we will do so with stronger communication, satisfied and empowered workers, improving facilities and successful fund-raising.

Communications. Utilizing the various communications components of the university, we will establish an integrated marketing strategy to effectively communicate the news, goals and value of the university while enhancing its public profile. This concentrated communications team will work on behalf of all facets of the university -- generating a powerful, consistent message to an audience near and far.

Talent. We will invest more in those who are investing in students. Sabbaticals, professional development opportunities and other opportunities for faculty and staff to achieve their full potential will receive increased financial support.

Technology. High-tech is crucial. It’s where the action is in terms of communication and information, and it is constantly evolving. The university is building a technological infrastructure that can meet today’s demand while adapting to tomorrow’s growth.

Facilities. The university will create and implement a facilities model that will define program needs and establish priorities. This will allow the university to see clearly the physical needs of the campus, from maintenance and repair to new construction, and act accordingly.

Finances. The university is taking a four-point approach toward stronger financial health: Enhanced fund-raising through the UW-River Falls Foundation; grants awarded, which have increased from $2,655,787.62 in 2005-06 to $3,650,306.35 in 2006-07; increased enrollment; and a review of the university’s policies and practices as they relate to the budget.
