Admission to Professional
Standing in Agricultural Education

To be admitted to Professional Standing in Agricultural Education for the Fall 2008 semester you must complete your interview by March 7, 2008.

Professional Standing in Agricultural Education is required to register for TED 440, TED 422, and Student Teaching. You must complete the application process the semester before you need to register for the first of these classes.

Time Line

To be admitted for spring semester you must complete the interview by the first Friday in October the semester before. To be admitted for fall semester you must complete the interview by the first Friday in March of the preceeding semester. Please read the requirements below closely and plan carefully based on the times required for each step.

Application Process

The application process includes a packet of materials and an interview with the Agricultural Education Department Chair. A completed application packet will include the following items:

The first three items must be completed well in advance. Please plan accordingly!

PPST Scores

Satisfactory scores on the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) or the Computer Based Pre-Professional Skills Test (C-PPST) must be received (the official score sheet) prior to the admission deadline.

The test is offered two times a year on campus and you must register at least one month in advance. You can obtain registration information in the Ag Ed Department Office (AGS 324) or the COEPS Dean's Office (WEB 203).

Note: Please allow 6 weeks from the time you take the test(s) for the for the Designated Institution Score Report to arrive in the Agricultural Education Department.

Criminal History Report

Print, complete, and mail the form. Under Requestor Type check General Public. Under Request Purpose check General Information. Be sure to include a check for the report cost. Under Return Request To list the Agricultural Education Department: 410 S. Third St, River Falls, WI 54022. Include a self-addressed, postage-paid envelope also addressed to the ag ed department.

Note: Allow at least 2 weeks from the time you mail the form for it to be returned.

Faculty Recommendations

Please print and fill out two copies of the faculty recommendation and distribute to two faculty members you wish to use as a reference. This is a pdf form, you can type your name in the box before you print, but you cannot save this. (note: faculty members from the Ag Ed Dept. cannot be used for this recommendation)

Once your 2 Faculty Recommendations, Criminal History Form, and PPST scores are received by the Ag Ed Department, you may schedule a time for your interview (324 AGS). Bring the remaining documents (Questionnaire, Plan Sheet, Application, and DAR) with you to your interview.

Directions for Admission to Professional Standing in Agricultural Education:

  1. Click on the desired link beneath the document you wish to fill out or print.
  2. A window will pop up. Select open it and click OK button.
  3. This should open the document in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat. To enter your personal data in the document, just simply click on the box and type your entry. For the documents without the boxes press the insert key. (This will allow you to type over the document without changing its format) . Acrobat files can then be printed, but not saved.
  4. Once you have completed filling in your data in the Word documents, save the document.
  5. Print the appropriate number of copies for each form.
  6. Once you have completed the application, submit printed copies to the Agricultural Education Department. (This is so that the Ag Ed Department can keep your application on file.)
