Spring 2009 Newsletter Highlights
Students from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) and the Agricultural Education Department traveled to various high schools and career fairs to present about college and career opportunities available in agriculture. Complete story.
For almost 50 years the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has shared its campus facilities, knowledge and assistance to FFA members from across Wisconsin through its annual Agricultural Technology Contest. Complete story.
More than 440 local elementary students learned about agriculture and life on the farm at the Farm Day event. Farm Day, held on April 17, is an annual event hosted by Alpha Zeta, an honorary agricultural fraternity. The event was held at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Mann Valley Lab Farm 2. Hammering staples, stretching barbed wire and pounding posts are not common activities students would consider enjoyable during spring break, but 10 students from University of Wisconsin-River Falls would not have spent their week off of school any other way. Complete story.
James Graham, associate professor of agricultural education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls received a Wisconsin FFA Honorary Degree and six UWRF students were elected to officer posts at the 80th Annual Wisconsin FFA Convention held in Madison June 8-11. Complete story.
