Application Process

The following documents are to be completed the semester prior to that in which you plan to student teach (Spring Semester for Fall Placement, Fall for Spring Placement).  All documents must be submitted on-time to secure you a Student Teaching Placement. Failure to provide all documents and complete all requirements may result in a non-placement for student teaching.

A completed Student/Intern Teaching Application will include the following items:

1. Student Teaching Intent Form

This includes information necessary for making student teaching placements.  Furthermore, you are required to express your intent toward Intern Teaching. 

Note:  All intern placements and intern candidates must be approved through the Agricultural Education Department before a candidate is approved.

2. Professional Documentation

  • Student Contact Hours (updated) - Must have at least 113 pre-student teaching hours before the start of your student teaching placement. Field experiences must take place in the PK-12 classroom setting or the equivalent.

  • Occupation Experience Hours (updated) - Must have at least 2000 hours before the start of your student teaching placement. Note: Please review the Occupation Experience Policy for details on this requirement.

  • Praxis II Score - A minimum score of 510 is required and the official Designated Institution Score Report must be on file in the Ag Ed Office to assure a placement.

  • Negative TB Test - Written verfication of a current (must be within 2 years of mid-semester of your student teaching semester) negative tuberculin test must submitted with the application. Note: Allow at least 3 days for completion.

  • Criminal Justice Background - A current (must be within 2 years of mid-semester of your student teaching semester) Wisconsin Criminal History form stamped with the results of the Wisconsin Crime Information Bureau background check must be on file in the Ag Ed Office. Note: Allow at least 2 weeks from the time you mail the form for it to be returned.

This packet is to be submitted to Dr. James Graham by 4:00 p.m. on the 3rd Friday of the semester.
