  • Saturday and Sunday March 29-30, 2008: Youth Horse Judging Clinic

Instructed by: Dr. Kris Hiney, University of Wisconsin - River Falls; Industry professionals and members of the UWRF Judging Team.

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is offering an educational clinic for youth interested in competitive horse judging. The clinic is designed to increase the understanding of the objective judging criteria used to place halter, western and English performance events typically encountered in most judging contests. Furthermore, the organization and presentation of oral reasons will be stressed. Individual reasons instruction with youth will be conducted in several sessions over the two days. The program will be focused toward youth judgers, but would serve as a valuable aid to 4-H, FFA and agriculture education coaches wishing to improve their horse judging program.

Clinicians will include: Dr. Kris Hiney, the coach of the UWRF horse judging team, industry professionals and members of the UWRF Judging Team. Dr. Hiney has coached judging teams for 9 years with two AQHA World Championship teams, National and Reserve National International Arabian Horse Association Championship teams, and several top 5 National Reining Horse Association teams.
