Exploring Student Life
"At the end of every school year, the campus puts on what they call 'Finals Fest.' Throughout the last week of school, there are different events and they usually get a band to come and perform. Last year, the band 'Reel Big Fish' came to our campus." - Jessie Rowan
Name: Jessie Rowan
Hometown: Maplewood, MN
Year in School: Junior
Major(s): Speech Communication
Minor: I choose a multidisciplinary minor, which means that my adviser and
I created a minor that better accommodates what I was looking for in a
minor. If I had to name it, I would call it Business Diversity.
Why I decided to attend UW-River Falls : I choose River Falls for a few
reasons. The campus is not too big and textbook services is awesome. You
rent your textbooks, rather than purchasing them.
Favorite food served on campus: Mamma Leone's pizza in the
University Center. It is delicious. Make sure you try it!
Favorite feature of UW-River Falls : The small class sizes. This allows you
to have a better one-on-one experience with your professor.
Campus Involvement: I am a campus tour guide and I
work for the StuCrew in the University Center.
Favorite professor: Jennifer Willis-Rivera in the Communication Studies
department. She is extremely dedicated to her students and always keeps
class interesting.
Favorite spot on campus: The University Center. Many campus events take
place at the University Center and there is always something going on.
Favorite event on campus: At the end of every school year, the campus puts
on what they call "Finals Fest". Throughout the last week of school there
are different events each day and they usually get a band to come and
perform. Last year, the band "Reel Big Fish" came to our campus.
Best reason to live on campus: I met all of my good friends in the
residence halls.
Best thing about being a student at UW-River Falls : There are many great
professors and tons of opportunities to get involved.
Advice to Incoming students : Don't be afraid to get involved and
meet new people. You will make awesome memories and meet all sorts of cool
people.
