English Language Transition ProgramThe English Language Transition (ELT) Program at the University of Wisconsin River Falls provides English language courses for enrolled degree seeking non-native speakers of English. The ELT Program is intensive - up to 25 hours a week for full-time students – and is available Fall, Spring and Summer session. Both domestic and international students participate in ELT’s skill-building classes offered through the Office of Global Connections. International students who do not meet the admission requirements for non-native speakers but who are academically qualified can be conditionally admitted to UWRF, as participants in ELT classes, to later transition into general classes. Participants in the English Language Transition Program take a comprehensive ELT placement exam upon arrival to campus. ELT staff and faculty will determine students’ initial readiness for university study and place them into appropriate courses. Based on exam results, students will be enrolled in:
