Submit Your Enrollment Deposit
You are required to make a $100 tuition deposit to verify your intent to enroll. Enrollment deposits will be accepted until the University has reached its enrollment limits. You will need your ID number and application number that was included in your admission letter. The deposit should be paid online, but can also be sent to: Cashier's Office, 410 South Third St. River Falls, WI 54022. Please include the student's ID number and application number on the check.
Activate Your Falcon Account
Your Falcon Account will be used for class registration, financial aid, housing, university email, and your student records. You'll need to activate your account online.
Apply for Housing
The Residence Life Office sends housing information 1-2 weeks after you've been admitted, beginning in November. Freshmen and sophomore students who do not meet exemption requirements are required to live in University residence halls. It is important for all accepted students to apply for housing early. The earlier you complete your contract and pay the housing deposit, the more likely you are to obtain your hall preferences. The complete housing application process is online. Contact Residence Life if you have questions.
Apply for Financial Aid
After January 1, fill out and submit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available online, at your high school or from the Office of Financial Assistance at River Falls. Many high schools have informational sessions on how to apply for Financial Aid. We encourage you to attend.
Visit Campus
If you have not already visited campus, schedule your visit now! You can arrange a weekly tour and information session or attend one of our Visit Days, which are special programs that give you a closer look at the university. Check our Visiting Campus page for more information.
Apply for Tuition Reciprocity (MN Residents)
If you are a Minnesota resident, be sure to fill out the Reciprocity Form. This simple form will allow you to pay a tuition rate comparable to what is charged at a similar Minnesota school and is available from high school counselors or from the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office.
Take Placement Tests
UW System placement tests are required for all new students who have not completed college-level courses in English or Math. There will be weekend dates in March, April and May through the Regional Placement Testing Program. Information on this program will be mailed to admitted students in January. Students attending UW-River Falls who are not able to take their placement tests during the Regional Placement Testing Program can take them the day before their registration date. For students starting in the spring semester, registration information is mailed in December and the registration program is held in January. For students starting in the fall semester, registration information is mailed in April and registration programs are held in June and August. Questions can be directed to the Admissions Office by phone at 715-425-3500 or email admit@uwrf.edu.
Register for Classes
If you've paid your enrollment deposit, you'll be invited to attend a New Student Registration program. This information will be mailed out by mid-April. When you attend the registration program, you'll meet with your academic advisor, learn the online registration process, meet other new students and leave campus with a complete class schedule.
Send Final Transcripts
Don't forget to send us your final high school or college transcripts! We'll verify that you've successfully completed your most recent term and/or that you've graduated from high school.
Attend "Weeks of Welcome"
Arrive on campus for Weeks of Welcome and spend a week meeting other new students, getting to know campus and making a smooth transition to college. Participation in this program is strongly encouraged for all new students. An abbreviated program for commuter students will also be held in September.
