Student Check-in at Dalkeith House

As you make your travel arrangements, please keep the following in mind:

Official check-in time at Dalkeith House is between 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the following date:

  • SPRING 2016:  January 28, 2016. Orientation begins at 3:30  p.m. on January 28th, 2016 (Note: This means departing the U.S. the day before your orientation date, i.e. depart January 25-27th for a January 28th orientation.)

Students should schedule airfare arriving no later than noon on your orientation date in Edinburgh to ensure adequate time to clear immigration and travel to Dalkeith House in time to participate in all orientation activities. In order to ensure a successful term, students are required to participate in orientation activities throughout the weekend.  Accommodation for students arriving early (August 12-14  for fall and January 26-28 for spring) is included in program fee.  No meals are provided during this time.  Any student arriving prior to these dates will be required to pay guest rates at Dalkeith House.

If you need to arrive prior to 9:00 a.m. on your orientation date, please e-mail Patty Watters, Resident Director of Operations,, to make arrangements.   Any student staying at the house prior to check-in may be assigned to a guest room and may not be able to check into his/her room assignment until official check-in begins.

A few weeks before the program begins you will receive an e-mail from the program asking for your flight details. It is imperative that you respond in a timely manner to this request.

From the Edinburgh Airport, most tired travelers (with all their luggage) will opt to take a taxicab (cab fare is running between £30-40).  View directions to find other modes of transportation to Dalkeith House.
