An opportunity to find fame by taking action in your community. Find a cause you are passionate about, educate yourself on the issue, and take action. Be a part of a national movement!

1. Register

• Go to OrgSync to register. Registration is open all year!

2. Find your cause

• Partner with a local community agency
  
• Connect with a service organization or club on campus  (click on the "Service" category) 
• Find a cause through Idealist.org or enter your zip code into MelissaData.com

3. Take action
Any hours spent educating on an issue or participating in direct service can count towards a minimum of 15 hours needed to complete the Rock the Cause program.

Education or service opportunity ideas on the UW-River Falls campus:

• Apply for Destination
• Attend a Social Justice Series event
• Join Pay it Forward committee
• Participate in the “I Went Without” series
  
• Service with your club/organization
• Philanthropy with your Greek organization
• Student Senate participation
  

4. Reflect and celebrate!

• Make sure to log your hours and complete reflection
  
• Attend the One Day Without Shoes event to see the impact UWRF has made on the community and celebrate your participation.
  

• Presidential Volunteer Service Award

• • Issued by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation on the behalf of the President of the United States to recognize the best in the American spirit, and to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteer service, and civic participation.
  • There are three levels and four categories of the Award varying by age and hours of service completed within a 12-month period:

  • 	Bronze	Silver	Gold
    Young Adults (15-25)	100-174 hours	175-249 hours	250+ hours
    Adults (26 and up)	100-249 hours	250-499 hours	500+ hours

    ^{12 months to complete your service hours. We will monitor progress through time sheets on OrgSync and will contact you upon achieving any level of award.}

• • Up to 3 given will be given to participants on April 5, 2012
  • Up to 3 given will be given to community agencies on April 5, 2012
  • Up to 3 given will be given to clubs/organizations on April 5, 2012

  • • Evidence of solid accomplishments that have contributed to the quality of life in the greater River Falls Community or,
    • Contributions that result in long-term and lasting changes for public good or,
    • Demonstrated commitment to service at UWRF and/or the greater River Falls Community
