Looking for something to do on Friday and Saturday nights in River Falls? Falcon Programs plans events in a relaxed/casual atmosphere for almost every Friday and Saturday night!
Weekend Programs events are a way for you to be socially, physically, and educationally involved in programs on campus. Falcon Programs offer a variety of activities such as comedians, dances, tournaments, and games. These activities are free, with the exception of Finals Fest.

You Got Skills: Tom's 1:1 Craft Day (Pay It Forward Event)

Similar to the TOMS Shoes One-for-One concept where every pair of shoes purchased yields a new pair of shoes given to a child in need. There will be Valentine theme craft stations where you create one craft for yourself to take home, and you make one to give to a member of the River Falls Community (Turning Point, Kinnic Long Term Care, and Lutheran Home residents). Black History Month: Film Sankofa

"Sankofa" is an Akan word that means that we must go back and reclaim our past so we can move forward; so we understand why and how we came to be who we are today.
In this film, the story follows Mona, a contemporary African-American woman who travels back in time and experiences slavery. Director Haile Gerima's poetic and precisely detailed film takes its audience into its heroine's life and mind as her moral sense is challenged and changed.
Running Time: 124 minutes. This film is not rated.

Get on the Bus: MN Science Museum "Real Pirates" Exhibit

Aaarg! Don't miss out on this adventure! Prizes will be awarded for the best pirate costumes!
Tickets for this experience include transportation to and from the Museum, entrance to the museum, Real Pirates exhibit, and the Omni Theatre! Tickets can be purchased at the University Center Information Desk for $17 each ($35 value!). The bus will depart from the lower level of the University Center at 2 p.m. and will return around 8p.m.

48 Hour Film Competition

Ready, Set, Film! This is a mandatory meeting for all participants who would like to be part of the competition. Join us at this meeting to receive the rules and required elements for producing your film in just 48 hours. Films are due by 6 p.m. on Sunday to the Involvement Center Front Desk. Relay for Life

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. On a team or not, join the walk for cancer and "Make Cancer Walk the Plank!"
Be present at the amazing Relay for Life event (free and open to the public). Spaghetti dinner starts at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremony starting at 6 p.m. The Survivor Lap will start at approximately 6:15 p.m.and a Luminaria Ceremony will follow. The Closing Ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

"Ready Set, Film," the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcon Film Festival is underway! This annual event is an opportunity for the university's film students to showcase their work to the community. 48 Hour Film Competition, Film Screening and Film Festival IV are all sections of this year's competition.
Competitors will be given a chance to compete for awards such as "Best Director," "Best Actor," "Best Technical" and"Peoples Choice Award."

Asian Awareness Month Film Screening - Mountain Patrol: Kekexili

Join us for a film in recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Mountain Patrol: Kekexili, is a film inspired by a people's remarkable mission surrounding the illegal Tibetan antelope poaching in the region of Kekexili, the largest animal reserve in China. The story is brought to the screen with great detail by director Lu Chuan. Set against the exquisite backdrop of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Chuan tells the tale of brave local Tibetans who face death and starvation to save the endangered antelope herds from a band of ruthless hunters.
Outdoor Adventure Film Fest

Join us for the film 180 Degrees South: Conquerors of the Useless. This film follows Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia. Along the way he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life — and prepares himself for a rare ascent of Cerro Corcovado. Jeff's life turns when he meets up in a rainy hut with Chouinard and Tompkins who, once driven purely by a love of climbing and surfing, now value above all the experience of raw nature — and have come to Patagonia to spend their fortunes to protect it.

The Jazz Ensemble is proud to announce the Universal Language VIII concert will feature guest artist and percussionist Babatunde Lea.
Babatunde Lea has forged a career steeped in the rhythms of the Motherland of Africa and its Caribbean and South American diaspora. He has drawn immeasurable experience working with such singular stylists as Leon Thomas, Pharoah Sanders, Stan Getz, Joe Henderson,Van Morrison, Ernie Watts, and a host of others. Admission is free.
