  • If you are concerned about your safety - call 911.
  • You can contact Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence (715-425-6751 hotline) or (715-821-8626 text) to speak to an advocate confidentially about your options and support.  Services are available 24/7 at no cost.
  • Contact the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at (715-425-6443). A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner collects evidence and helps to make sure a victim’s body in O.K.   • Please seek medical attention immediately from the the nearest hospital (emergency room) or clinic (River Falls Area Hospital closest emergency room) if needed. Victims often do not have injuries that result from the sexual assault, so an emergency room is not always needed.  If you are not yet sure if you want to report or want an exam, you may still want to get STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) testing/medications and/or emergency contraception.
  • UWRF Student Health Services covers the cost for certain health services for students at the below locations. For questions, contact UWRF Student Health Services at 715-425-3293. 
    - Pierce County Reproductive Health Services (appointments 715-425-8003) STI testing and treatment, emergency contraception, urine pregnancy testing, etc.
    - MHealth Fairview Clinc in River Falls (appointments 715-425-6701) STI testing, emergency contraception, urine pregnancy testing, etc.
  • Do not shower, douche or wash the clothing that you wore at the time assault. This can serve as evidence should you decide to press charges. (You DON'T have to make a decision now, but this is the only time you will be able to collect this evidence). Additionally, it may serve to calm your fears about medical concerns.
  • If you choose not to seek medical or legal attention at this time - Please call University Counseling Services at 715-425-3884. You may choose to ask a friend or counselor to accompany you at any stage of this process. We will respect and affirm your choices.  The Campus Victim Advocate is also available at Student Health and Counseling Services, through an agreement with Turningpoint. 
     
  • Write down everything that you remember happening, with as much detail as possible. This can help with your healing process and in any legal action you might decide to take.
