Getting Started

First Day and Beyond
  • Parking
    The Parking Department provides parking services to students, employees, and visitors of the university. The Parking Program has been established to govern available spaces. These spaces are enforced by the use of parking permits, meters and time restrictions. Parking is only permitted within the confines of a single marked space or in a designated parking bay in a gravel lot. Parking permits are required when parking in student and faculty/staff (employee) lots as well as physically challenged areas and loading zones.
  • Card Services
    The Carding Office distributes and manages the Campus ID cards used for many services available to students and staff. The Carding Office is located in 131 Hagestad Hall.
  • Outlook Email and Calendar
    View helpful documents and videos to learn tips and tricks for using your Outlook email and calendar.
  • Emergency Alert
    The CityWatch  Alert System is the emergency alert system at UWRF. Sign up for CityWatch alert notifications to be sent to your phone by text message.
  • FERPA
    FERPA is the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act that sets forth requirements regarding the privacy of student records. Learn more about FERPA, basic rules, and take the FERPA quiz.
Payroll/Benefits
  • HRS Self-Service (Time-sheets, payroll process)
    Log in to the HRS system to report leave time, view payroll, benefit and tax information, and update your personal contact information.
  • Total Compensation Calculatorlink

    The State of Wisconsin authorized and directed the University of Wisconsin System to develop two distinct new personnel systems:
    1. One for all UW-Madison employees
    2. One for all other UW System employees
    These new systems are to be implemented on July 1, 2013.
Safety
  • University Police
    University Police are responsible for:
    • Developing and maintaining crime prevention programs that stop or reduce crimes
    • Implementing and maintaining crime prevention programs through environmental design
    • Securing the campus parameters' including general patrol of campus property by foot, bike and vehicle
    • Stopping or reducing university UW 18, Wisconsin criminal and traffic violations by continuous enforcement and education
    • Investigating crimes to recover and obtain compensation for damages to the campus and victims, communication and sharing information pertaining to safety and security
    • Building an inclusive relationship, with students, faculty, staff, visitors and the community
  • Behavioral Intervention Team
    While countless resources exist to help students adjust to college life and the additional stress, students may still find themselves at risk, without an awareness of these resources. One of the ways the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is addressing these issues is through the work of the Behavioral Intervention Team (B.I.T.) members.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
    The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a referral service for employees and their families who need help with personal problems. The EAP is a program that can help employees get through tough times.

  • Conceal and Carry Law
    The Wisconsin Administrative Code at UWS 18.10(3) prohibits a person from carrying, possessing, or using any dangerous weapon on university lands or in university buildings or facilities, unless it is for law enforcement purposes or the person receives written approval of the chief administrative officer. Chapter 18 permits police to confiscate and remove dangerous weapons from university lands. To the extent Chapter 18 is consistent with Wisconsin Act 35, the University of Wisconsin System will continue to follow and enforce Chapter 18. Learn more about the conceal and Carry Law above.

  • Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
    The Division of Technology Services (DoTS) develops and maintains computing resources and facilities at UW-River Falls. These resources are for instructional, research, administrative and community outreach purposes only. DoTS endeavors to maximize the available computational resources within financial constraints and legal commitments of our software licenses. Several policies and guidelines have been developed to maintain an ethical and amicable working environment and to meet the requirements governing the use of University resources.   • Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
    A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is an information sheet developed by manufacturers to provide end-users with safety and health information about a chemical product. Federal and state regulations require that UWRF employees have unrestricted access to MSDSs for materials such as laboratory research chemicals, cleaning supplies, welding rods--virtually all of the materials that are used on the job by UWRF employees. The efficient management of MSDSs is required by law and, from a practical standpoint, is critical to ensuring the safety of students, employees, and others who participate in UWRF programs and use our facilities.
