Strategic Plan

Strategic Plan Workshop

Dr. John Dew, Director for Continuous Quality Improvement and Planning at the University of Alabama, will lead a strategic planning workshop for a selected group of UW-RF faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community representatives on August 23-24, 2006.

In preparation for the workshop, Dr. Dew visited campus on June 26, 2006 to meet with a number of individuals that will be closely involved in the strategic planning process. Recommendations from those individuals are guiding the planning for the August 23-24 workshop.

Dr. Dew will utilize Future Search methodology to lead participants through exercises that will allow the group to develop well articulated strategic goals. Future Search methodology:

  • is designed for large groups.
  • is designed to encourage people to share and listen.
  • creates opportunities for reflection.
  • encourages finding the common ground.
  • pulls people toward the future.

During the workshop, Dr. Dew will lead the group through a number of steps, including a time-line exercise, a SWOT analysis, and a visioning exercise. A nominal group technique will be employed to help the group quickly focus on strategic goals. See full workshop agenda for additional details.

The Strategic Planning Steering Committee has organized a variety of required and recommended readings for workshop participants and for all individuals interested in learning more about strategic planning at UW-RF.

Selected Faculty Senate committees will develop action plans to support these goals during September and October, 2006.
