Students identified positive aspects of this placement:

  • Great people to work with both clients and co-workers, good opportunity to meet people within different county positions (i.e. District Attorney, Sheriff's Dept. court system, etc) and everyone is always willing to answer questions and help you out if you're having trouble. (2009)
  • You receive a wide variety of exposure in the juvenile and child protection area. I think that the variety of things I've seen and experienced was great. I never thought that this field could and does expand into so many areas. Even though I'm not certified in Social Work, there are a lot of opportunities. (2003)
  • Hands-on learning experience and friendliness of staff. The staff went out of their way to help me learn about juv. supervision. You meet many contacts in the county and in court. (2001)

Students identified difficulties in this placement:

  • Being capable of handling stress. The stories that some clients have are also very sad and depressing. (2001)
