Studies have shown that about 90% of students major in sociology because the concepts engage them. However, at the same time, one of the biggest fears sociology majors face is how they use their sociology knowledge and degree to their advantage in the job market once they graduate. Current students and recent graduates face a daunting job market with high national unemployment levels. Along with this, most graduating students have an average debt level when graduating. While we cannot produce jobs, the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Criminal Justice is committed to doing everything possible to adequately prepare our graduates to find suitable employment. In that spirit, this section provides you with a variety of resources you can use to your advantage as you move toward graduation and even after you graduate. Beyond that, we encourage you to talk to your academic advisor or any faculty member within the department and to seek out the invaluable assistance provided by the University through Career Services.
