We are very pleased that you have decided to declare a major in sociology or that you are considering a major in sociology.  We recognize that you may have some very important questions as you begin this journey or as you consider beginning this journey.  We also recognize that as the parent of a new major or a potential major you also have questions and concerns about the sociology major.  What follows are open letters to you, which attempt to answer some of these important questions and help you feel good about a major in sociology.  They explain what sociology is about, what jobs and graduate school careers students can anticipate, and how to prepare for their future.  We have also included a series of data briefs on these topics.
