August 2006
This internship is for the intern to learn and take part in the different divisions of the Sheriff's Office, so it can be anywhere from transporting prisoners to jail, helping with inventory, riding along on patrol, booking people into jail and much more. It depends on what goes on on a daily basis.
You get to experience every aspect of the entire Sheriff's Office. It is never the same thing on a day to day basis.
Schedule changes, contacting someone new every week.

I did some filing, assisted when they needed me, know the computer system, ran plates, wrote tickets, searched houses under warrants, baby sat kids whose parents were being arrested, helped on the river, used my discretion on pulling cars over, worked at the fair, answered some questions, basically, if you wanted hands-on, they would let you.
Everything I wrote above! Everyone I met was awesome and willing to answer any questions I had. My internship supervisor placed me in every part in the sheriff's department and was able to see the differences in the different areas, how they all come together and work as a team. Each person was so willing to help me and help others at anytime even if their shift was over and they were ready to go home.
I have no weapons or tactical skills yet so I had to wait to get the ok before I did anything.
