About South Fork Suites

As indicated by the name, SFS is a "suite style" residence hall. There are 60 four-person furnished suites. Each suite has four private single bedrooms, a living room, a dining area/kitchenette, and a bathroom. The entire building is air conditioned. Each of the eight wings has a large kitchen/lounge area for cooking meals and a laundry area. Other public areas include the lobby, floor lounges, conference rooms, and a recreation/fitness room. There is elevator access to all four floor levels. South Fork Suites has four Resident Assistants and one Hall Manager. The building is close to student parking (O Lot) and near sand volleyball and basketball courts. The South Fork of the Kinnickinnic River runs behind the building. South Fork is connected to Ames Hall through the Lydecker Living Learning Center.

SFS and Ames Hall work together as a Complex to promote student involvement through activities in their halls.

SFS, built in 2004-2005, was named after George R. Field, who was the last President and first Chancellor, serving UWRF from 1968-1985.

Single-Gender and Mixed-Gender Suites

Students who are eligible for South Fork Suites may choose to live in either a single-gender or mixed-gender suite. Single-gender suites are assigned based on birth-gender, and students may sign up to be in a single-gender suite individually or in groups of 2, 3, or 4. For students who wish to be in a mixed-gender suite, each student must sign an 'Agreement for Mixed-Gender Housing' and submit a 'Form for Mutually Requesting Each Suitemate'.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors operates like a traditional Hall Council, with the exception that hall-wide meetings are held monthly in the South Fork Conference room. If you have an issue that you feel the hall should know about, or are just curious about what we do, please stop in and join us.

Complex Council

SFS and Ames Complex Council meets regularly to discuss issues and planning for those halls.
