Intramural Sports Staff

Intramural Sports Staff

This position will work closely with the Intramural Supervisors, Intramural Coordinator, Student Recreation Manager and Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.  Responsibilities will include enforcing departmental policies and game rules for any number of intramural sports including basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, softball, ultimate frisbee, broomball, and dodgeball.  Additional duties include maintaining a safe and fun atmosphere during intramural competition, facilitating fair play among participants, and attending sport-specific training sessions.

Compensation: Start at $7.50/hr

Group Fitness Instructor

As a Group Fitness (Spinning/Cycling) Instructor, you are expected to be a knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming to everyone in your classes, teaching a class that is safe and appropriate for all attendees. Campus Recreation expects all employees to have a positive attitude, show up for work on time, dress professionally, and perform all assigned duties in a professional manner. In addition, Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for providing fitness instruction, supervision, and a supportive exercise environment to all group fitness participants.

This position will work closely with members of the Campus Recreation Staff.  Responsibilities will include supervision of Intramural and Special Event activities.  This position will require night and weekend hours.  This position is also responsible for the supervision, and evaluation of all Intramural Officials.

Student Intramural Coordinator

The Intramural Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting all intramural activities, programs and events sponsored by Campus Recreation.  Responsibilities include assisting with the development, administration, supervision and evaluation of the intramural program, including equipment duties and scheduling and training workers.  The Intramural coordinator will also serve as an Intramural Supervisor and assist with the administration of intramural events.  The position requires evening and weekend hours.

Sport Club Coordinator

The Sport Club Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting all Sport Club programmatic activities and functions.  Responsibilities include assisting with the development, administration, supervision and evaluation of the Sport Club program, including equipment duties and reviewing club documentation.  The Sport Club Coordinator will also serve assist with the administration of all home Sport Club contests, practices and events.  The position requires evening and weekend hours.

Campus Recreation Manager

This position will work closely with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation in the oversight of Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, and Outdoor Recreation.  Duties include but are not limited to, assisting with game and event scheduling and administration; marketing and promotion; hiring, training and scheduling student employees; Intramural supervision; equipment management; and recreational facilities management. The position requires evening and weekend hours.

Media Operations

Camera Technician

The Camera Technician operates the 2 camera system in Hunt Arena which plays in-house, on the Internet, and on local cable. They work closely with the Sound Engineer and Video Technician to create an exciting atmosphere at Hunt Arena. The Camera Technician also operates the special effects board attached to the Hunt Arena Video Board System.

Compensation: $30.00/game (Approximately $10.00/hr)
Minimum GPA: 2.0
Time Commitment: Many weekend and evening hours, 14 - 20 home hockey game a season (October - March)

Sound Engineer

The Sound Engineer position is an integral part of Rec. and Sport Facilities Game Administration. The Sound Engineer manages the sound system during all Falcon Hockey games, both men and women. They choose what music is played in-between stoppages of play and during intermission. They work closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Rec. and Sport Facilities to provide an exciting atmosphere in Hunt Arena.

Compensation: $30.00/game (approximately $10.00/hour)
Minimum GPA: 2.0
Time Commitment: Many weekend hours, 14 home hockey game a season (October - March)

Video Technician

The Video Technician is in charge of the Video Replay Board in Hunt Arena. They work closely with the Sound Engineer and Camera Technician to create an exciting atmosphere at Hunt Arena. They also assist in the creation of highlight videos, movie clips, and other in-game and intermission entertainment. Strong computer skills are required for this position.

Compensation: $30.00/game (Approximately $10.00/hr)

Ice Skating Instructor
Ice Skating Instructor

Hunt Arena Skating School provides kids and adults in the community a place to learn to skate and to advance their figure skating skills. As a coach you would be responsible for teaching classes in both eight week sessions (Session 1: October - December, Session 2: December - March), creating your own lesson plan, and teaching the required skills of ISI. Coaches also assist in the production of the Annual HASS Figure Skating Show, which includes script writing, choreographing routines, creating props and costumes, and all other facets associated with a production. Coaches are expected to be able to work will all levels from beginners to freestyle. They must be good with kids and have at least 2 years experience in coaching figure skating. Coaches must be able to prove that they have passed at least Freestyle 5 or USFS Juvenal Freestyle. HASS is an ISI program and follows the skills associated with this program.

Compensation: Based on experience

Sport Facility Event Staff
Sport Facility Event Staff

Sport Facility Event Staff have many different roles in the Hunt and Knowles Complex. These roles range from

  • Working the front desk: Students would answer the phones, set the facility for different events.
  • Hunt or Knowles Event Staff: Students assist facility supervisor in daily cleaning of facility, facility set-ups, and supervision of the facility.
  • Concessions: Students work in the Concession Stand for different events ranging from Falcon Hockey and Soccer games, Minnesota Twins Camp, to Falcon Athletic Camps.
  • Field Maintenance: Take care of the 5 softball fields that RSF oversees in the summer.
  • Camp and Clinics: Assist is set-up and facility needs of all the camps and clinics that utilize Hunt and Knowles during the summer.

Compensation: Start at $7.25/hour
Minimum GPA: 2.0
Time Commitment: 8 - 12 hours a week. Must be available at least 2 weekends a month

Duties include Event Staff position duties in addition to overseeing venues and Student Event Staff during events such as, UWRF hockey games, track and field meets, open recreation and more.

Compensation: Start at $8.00-$9.00/hour
Minimum GPA: 2.0
Time Commitment: 10 - 20 hours a week. Must be available at least 2 weekends a month.

Falcon Outdoor Adventures

FOA Staff

Kinni Outdoor Adventures (KOA) Staff

This position will work closely with members of the KOA Coordinator.   Responsibilities will include supervision of KOA, climbing wall, safety checks of the wall and climbing equipment, working in rental center, completion of waivers, attention to detail and high levels of customer service for all patrons, and assisting with inventory and upkeep of equipment.  This position will require afternoon, night and weekend hours.
