Details

Kayaking for First-Year Students

Where: Kinnickinnick River (Upper Kinni)

Time: 9:30am – 2:30pm

Meeting Place: Knowles Center

This 3-4 hour paddle takes you through small sandy beaches, marshlands, forests, and prime fishing locations. Many opportunities exist for viewing whitetail deer, red fox, trout, and river otters. Great for any skill level.

Trip fee includes kayak, paddle, dry bag, and PFD from Kinni Creek Lodge and Outfitters.

Participants provide:
•bag lunch/water bottle
•sunscreen
•camera
•secure footwear, synthetic/quick dry clothing (not cotton)

Pre-registration required. In case of severe weather, participants will be contacted in advance and trip will be re-scheduled.

Kayaking

Where: Kinnickinnick River (Lower Kinni)

Time: 9:30am – 2:30pm

Meeting Place: Knowles Center

This 3-4 hour paddle takes you through moss covered canyons, sandy beaches, and forested cliffs. Many opportunities exist for viewing bald eagles, blue heron, whitetail deer, and trout. Some paddling experience on moving water is recommended. Rocks, strainers, and gravel bars are present.

Trip fee includes kayak, paddle, dry bag, and PFD from Kinni Creek Lodge and Outfitters.

Participants provide:
•bag lunch/water bottle
•sunscreen
•camera
•secure footwear, synthetic/quick dry clothing (not cotton)

Moonlight Paddle

Where: TBD

Time: 6:00-10:00 p.m.

Meeting Place: Knowles Center

Canoe one of our large nearby lakes under the stars and moonlight. Trip fee includes canoe, headlamp, drybag, PFD, and transportation.

Participants provide:
•water bottle
•camera
•secure footwear, synthetic/quick dry clothing (not cotton)

Bike Tour

Where:  TBD

Time: Friday (3:00pm) depart, Saturday (6:00pm) return.

Meeting Place: Knowles Center

This two day cycling tour will take riders through the scenic farmland and river valleys of Pierce and St.Croix counties. Day one will consist of 40-55 miles of riding. Participants will campout overnight at a local state park. Day two will consist of 50-65 miles of riding back to River Falls. Friday’s dinner and Saturday’s breakfast will be provided. Helmets required. Bicycles and camping gear are available through Kinni Outdoor Adventures.

•snacks
•change of clothes

Outdoor Rock Climbing

Where: Barn Bluff (Red Wing, MN)

Time: 9:00am-2:00 p.m.

Meeting place: Knowles Center Lobby

Climb several routes ranging from 5.5-5.10 along the Mississippi River Valley. Trip fee includes harness, climbing shoes, snacks, and transportation.

Participants provide:
•water bottle
•camera
•sunscreen

Mountain Bike Trip

Where: TBD

Time: 9:00am-2:00 p.m.

Meeting Place: Knowles Center Lobby

Beginners and experienced mountain bikers will enjoy riding the trails of an area county park system. Helmets required. Bicycle rental available through Kinni Outdoor Adventures. Trip cost includes transportation, park entry fee, instruction for beginners, and snacks.

•bag lunch/water bottles
•sunscreen
•camera

Camping Trip

Where: TBD

Time: Friday (3:00pm) depart, Sunday (12:00pm) return.

Meeting Place: Knowles Center Lobby

Get out in the woods before winter sets in at one of the many Wisconsin State Parks. The trip will include opportunities for plenty of hiking, campfires, and good camp cooking! Gear rental is available through Kinni Outdoor Adventures. Trip cost includes transportation, camping fees, and Saturday’s meals.

•bug spray
•footwear for hiking
•synthetic/quick dry clothing (not cotton)



Indoor Rock Climbing

Where: Vertical Endeavorslink (St. Paul, MN)

Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm

Meeting Place: Knowles Center Lobby

Vertical Endeavors (VE) in St. Paul, MN is touted one of regions premier indoor climbing venues. This state-of-the-art facility features 28,000 square feet of climbing wall surface with 50-60 foot routes.

Trip fee includes transportation, harness, climbing shoe, and VE day pass.

Participants provide:
•bag lunch/water bottles
•camera

Night Climb

Where: UWRF Climbing Wall

Time: 9:00pm-Midnight

You may have climbed our wall dozens of times, but think about doing it in the dark. At our Night Climb event, we turn down the lights offering only headlamps and glow sticks to help guide you to the top. Black-light Bouldering will also be a part of this extreme evening.

  1. Log in to your IMLeagues.com account. Just type in your University provided W# and password. (If you are logging in for the first time, you will need to fill out some information for your profile.)
  2. Click the “University of Wisconsin - River Falls” tab to go to your school’s homepage on IMLeagues.
  3. The current KOA trips & clinics and Intramural sports will be displayed, click on the Trip/Clinic you wish to join.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your registration.
