Dr. Neil Kraus, associate professor, joined the Department in 2005 and his areas of specialization include urban politics, public policy, state and local politics, education politics and policy, and public administration. As the Chancellor's representative to the Western Wisconsin Intergovernmental Collaboration, he has been very active in promoting the University in this region. He has also taught several courses at a local prison. Professor Kraus has written a book on the politics of race in Buffalo, New York, entitled Race, Neighborhoods, and Community Power, and has published several articles on various aspects of race and urban politics. He has an ongoing research project on the politics of Minneapolis and Gary (IN), and recently published an article on a program that buses Minneapolis students to suburban schools.
