World Dairy Expo Event to Recognize Chinese Students' Dairy Farm Safety Training at UW-River Falls

October 2, 2014--A ceremony to recognize visiting students from China Agricultural University (CAU) will be held Friday, Oct. 3, at the World Dairy Expo in Madison. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Mendota 4 Room on the first floor of the Alliant Energy Center Expo Hall.

For the past three weeks, 14 undergraduate and graduate CAU students have been studying in the Dairy Science program at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls as part of an active teaching and training partnership established between UWRF and CAU in 2012. This event recognizes the successful completion of a customized dairy farm safety course developed for the visiting CAU scholars, and offered through the Center for Dairy Farm Safety at UWRF.

Scheduled speakers include Ben Brancel, secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection and UWRF Chancellor Dean Van Galen. Additional anticipated ceremony participants include Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and DATCP Deputy Secretary Jeff Lyon.
