All new students are required to attend a New Student Registration program prior to the start of classes. During this one-day program, students meet with academic advisors, select courses, register for classes, connect with other new students, and learn more about important campus resources.
Because of the important role they play in promoting student success, friends and family members are also encouraged to attend New Student Registration. While students meet with academic advisors and register for courses, family members attend their own program that familiarizes them with campus resources, new student transition issues, and more.
New Student Move-In requires a lot of planning and preparation. Students and families should review Move-In details carefully to make the most of this experience.
The Week of Welcome (WOW) program begins a few days before classes start and provides new students with the opportunity to meet classmates, explore campus resources and learn about life as a Falcon, all while having tons of fun! Participation in the WOW program is expected of all new students since we want everyone to have the information they need to make the most of their UWRF experience.
Academic Day marks the beginning of the academic year and welcomes new students to our community of scholars. Students will begin to network and form relationships with faculty and classmates in their area of study, gain a better understanding of academic expectations, and explore resources that are available to support student success.
WOW2 is a comprehensive First-Year Success Series offered throughout the academic year. WOW2 events provide new students with additional opportunities to meet classmates and explore campus resources, while developing skills for academic and personal success.
This annual event provides friends and families with the opportunity to share the UWRF experience with their student. The whole family will enjoy the variety of activities, events, and entertainment that celebrate life as a Falcon. All ages are welcome, so bring the ENTIRE family!
Getting to know faculty is an important part of the college experience so we created Out to Lunch, which promotes student and faculty interaction outside the classroom.
Compass Awards ask first-year students to reflect on the accomplishments during their first year and to identify one person who has made a difference in their success at UWRF. This may include an academic advisor, faculty, or staff member.
