The TEACH Learning Community is a living and learning community for first-year students who are pursuing majors in elementary or secondary education. TEACH is designed to bring students, faculty, and staff together to explore the world of education.
Members of the TEACH Learning Community enjoy:
Connecting with students who have similar academic goals
Taking two of the most high-demand Teacher Education courses during their first year
Engaging in classroom experiences at the elementary and middle school level
Academic advising for the College of Education located in their residence hall
Building a network of support among local educators
In addition to a shared academic and residential experience, TEACH members will have the opportunity to engage with students, teachers, and administrators in local school districts.
The following Teacher Education and General Education courses are required of participants in the TEACH Learning Community:
Fall Semester (6.5 credits) TED 120 (Intro to Education and Instructional Technology)
TED 289 (Special Topics in Teacher Education)
COMS 101 (Fundamentals of Oral Communication) - meets "CS" requirement of Goal One
Spring Semester (6 credits) TED 252 (Foundations of Multicultural Education)
ART 100 (Introduction to Art) - meets "HF" requirement of Goal Two
