Born this Way (BTW) is a living and learning community for second-year students (i.e., sophomores) who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, asexual (LGBTIQQA) or who consider themselves to be allies for the LGBTIQQA community. The BTW community seeks to enhance and to extend the connections between the academic, residential, and social aspects of the college experience. The community will provide a venue for members to network and to prepare for future successes and challenges they will encounter, both personally and professionally.
Throughout the year, the members of this community will take three common General Education courses; will have opportunities to engage with other persons with similar identities and/or commitment to issues of social justice; and will participate in activities that contribute to the creation of a more-welcoming campus and society.
The following General Education courses are required of participants in the Born this Way Living and Learning Community:
Fall Semester (6 credits):
Spring Semester (3 credits):
Students interested in living in the Born This Way community should inquire with the Department of Residence Life.
