Congratulations and Welcome to the Falcon Family!

The Department of New Student and Family Programs is excited to welcome you and your family to campus.

One of the first steps to becoming a Falcon is attending Transfer Student Registration - you'll need to select and confirm your program date online.

During this program, we'll do our best to connect you and your family with the information, resources, and support needed to be successful at UW-River Falls and beyond.  You will meet with academic advisors, select courses, register for classes, meet other new students, take your student ID card photo, and more.

While you meet with academic advisors and register for classes, family members will attend their own program that familiarizes them with campus resources, billing and financial aid procedures, student transition issues, and more.

You can make changes to your New Student Registration date online.  However, if you need to make a change within 24 hours of your scheduled program date, please contact the Admissions Office at 715-425-3500.

Other Reminders

Check Your UWRF E-mail - Regularly
Your UWRF e-mail account is used for all official communication from the University, including billing information.  It is your responsibility to check this account regularly.

Sign-Up for Housing/Dining
All freshmen and sophomores who do not meet exemption requirements are required to live in University residence halls. If you have not yet signed up for housing/dining you should do so as soon as possible.

Apply for Financial Aid
All students are encouraged to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our FAFSA School Code is 003923.  If you have not done so already, complete the FAFSA if you expect to need financial aid, including loans, to pay your fall tuition bill.

Apply for Reciprocity

If you are a Minnesota resident, be sure to fill out the Reciprocity Form now for the upcoming academic year. This simple form will allow you to pay a tuition rate comparable to what is charged at a similar Minnesota school.

Be Prepared to Pay Your Bill
A billing statement will be available online through your eSIS account.  It is a student's responsibility to access their billing statement through their eSIS account and pay their balance by the published deadlines.

To have a better idea of how much it will cost you to attend UWRF, please review approximate expenses for attending UWRF, tuition, billing, payment, and refund information.

New Student Move-In
New Student Move-In can be one of the most exciting days of your college experience - it is the day you'll begin to make UWRF your new home away from home!  However, New Student Move-In can also create a lot of anxiety for new students as you prepare to pack your belongings and move to a new home. Instructions for signing your housing contract and moving to campus are provided by the Department of Residence Life

Attend Week of Welcome
Week of Welcome (WOW) provides new students with the opportunity to meet classmates, explore campus resources and learn about life as a Falcon, all while having tons of fun!  Participation in WOW is expected of all new students so they have the information they need to make the most of their UWRF experience.

The New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) staff wants to provide you with the information, resources, and support needed to get your first year on campus off to a great start!  If you have any questions, please call 715-425-4250, or e-mail
