Year of Mexico Book Discussion Series

As part of the campus Year of Mexico initiative, the library is sponsoring a monthly book discussion focusing on books about Mexico or by Mexican authors. Please join us for the following discussions which are held in an informal setting in the library's Breezeway on the upper floor.

Fall 2015

Tuesday, October 27, 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Provost Fernando Delgado will lead a discussion of Roger Magazine's Golden and Blue Like My Heart: Masculinity, Youth, and Power Among Soccer Fans in Mexico.

Thursday, November 5, 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Professor Marshall Toman, Department of English, will lead a discussion of Steven Hill's Raw Deal: How the "Uber" Economy and Runaway Capitalism are Screwing American Workers.

Wednesday, February 17, 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Alex Hathway, Instructor in the English Language Transition Program and Zizu Student Liason, will lead a discussion of The Conquest of New Spain by Bernal Díaz del Castillo.

March Sergio Valverde, Lecturer of Political Science, will lead a discussion of The Labyrinth of Solitude by Octavio Paz.

Wednesday, April 13, 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Stephen Parliament, adjunct faculty member of Teacher Education, will lead a discussion of Contemporary Maya Spirituality: The Ancient Ways are Not Lost by Jean Molesky-Poz
