Scholarship funds

Jerome T. Beskar Memorial Scholarship awarded to a female UWRF junior or senior majoring in journalism with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and with a financial need.

Terry G. Fiedler Scholarship awarded to a junior or senior journalism major.

George P. Crist Memorial Scholarship awarded to an outstanding student majoring in journalism.

Denis P. Hickey Memorial Scholarship awarded to a student who has satisfactorily completed 60 or more credits, is in the upper 1/3 of the class who shows evidence of leadership capabilities through active participation in school, church, or community, and be satisfactorily progressing toward a degree as determined by the adviser.

Helen Kuyper Evans Scholarship awarded to a female member of the Student Voice staff.

The Lucien Day and Clare Murphy Parlin Scholarship awarded to a senior in journalism who intends to pursue a career in news reporting and had a demonstrated concern for the public welfare through extra-curricular activities. Preference will be given to those with special interest in politics, environmental, and/or social justice issues.

Pat Petricka Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the River Falls Journal

M. Wayne & Marian Wolfe Journalism Scholarship awarded by the UWRF Journalism Department to an outstanding journalism student.

Earl V. Chapin Journalism Scholarship awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior journalism major with a GPA of 3.0 or above and must have demonstrated a financial need.

Journalism Freshman Scholarship one scholarship for $500 awarded to a current freshman who writes the most compelling essay on the role of journalism in a democratic society. Essay must be double-spaced between 400-500 words. Applicant may not have more than 30 credits on their DAR as of January 1, 2009.
